Gouttières des Sommets
Privacy policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Who we are
Gouttières des Sommets (“we”) operates the website gouttieresdessommets.com. We install, repair and maintain gutters and related products.
This policy is written in plain language and complies with Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
By using this website or sending us your information, you acknowledge that you have read this policy.
The information we collect
We only collect what we need:
- What you give us: name, email, phone number, project address, request details and attached files when you fill in a form, write to us or call us.
- What your device sends us (only with your consent): IP address, cookie identifiers, pages viewed, device and browser type, referral source and approximate location.
- Necessary technical data: security and operating logs for the site (for example to block automated submissions).
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (health, finances, etc.) and we do not ask for a social insurance number.
Why we use it
- Answer your quote or information request, schedule a visit and follow up on our services.
- Carry out the work, invoicing and after-sales service.
- Measure site traffic and improve our content (analytics), only if you consent.
- Measure the effectiveness of our ads and show you more relevant ones (marketing), only if you consent.
- Comply with our legal obligations and protect our rights.
We do not use your information for other purposes without your consent, unless the law allows it. We do not sell your personal information.
Your consent
Your consent must be clear, free and informed, and given for specific purposes. When you voluntarily send us information (form, email, phone), we use it to answer your request.
Analytics and marketing cookies are off by default: they only turn on after you choose in the banner shown when you arrive. Rejecting is as easy as accepting and does not prevent you from using the site.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the “Cookies” button at the bottom left of every page, or by writing to the person responsible listed below. Your choice is kept for 12 months, then we ask again.
Transfers outside Québec
Several of our providers (Cloudflare, SendGrid, Google) operate servers located outside Québec, including in the United States. Your information may therefore be stored and processed there and be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, which may offer a different level of protection.
Before any transfer outside Québec, we assess the privacy factors (sensitivity of the information, purposes, protection measures and applicable legal regime) and make sure our providers contractually commit to protecting it adequately.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for (handling your request, carrying out and following up on the work, warranties, accounting and legal obligations). It is then securely destroyed or anonymized. Site measurement data is kept according to each analytics tool’s retention periods.
Security
We take reasonable security measures: encrypted connection (HTTPS), access limited to authorized people, protection against automated submissions and reputable providers. No method of transmission is completely infallible, however.
We keep a register of confidentiality incidents. If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, we promptly notify the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec and the people concerned.
Your rights
You may, at any time and without unreasonable cost:
- ask for access to the personal information we hold about you;
- ask for correction of inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal information;
- withdraw your consent to the use or disclosure of your information;
- ask for your information to be deleted or for its dissemination to cease, where the law allows it;
- ask to receive your computerized information in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability);
- be informed if a decision about you is made exclusively through automated processing (we do not make such decisions);
- ask us any question about our personal information practices.
To exercise these rights, write to the person responsible listed below. We may need to confirm your identity, and we reply within 30 days of receiving your request.
Children and minors
This site is intended for building owners and managers. We do not knowingly collect information about people under 14 without the consent of the person with parental authority. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us to have it deleted.
